How much money can you make From A Blog?
Each blog is different and is usually monetize differently. But what I have noticed is that the niche you blog in also helps to influence what your blog income will be.
For example, most of the “make money online” niche and the “blogging niche” tend to make more money than a typical weight loss blog or other topics.
With that being said, blog income can be limitless. Some bloggers make $0/month while others make $100,000+/month income.
The amount of money you can make blogging also depends on how hard you are willing to work to make your blogging dream a reality.
Blogging does take hard work and anyone who tells you different is lying.
Choose a great Niche (topic)
I can’t stress enough how crucial niche selection is to your blog success. Passion alone can’t cut it. You may have a passion for a niche with no money.
Choose a niche that has a proven track record of paying customers for a sure dollar.
If no one else is in the niche you selected, chances are you can’t make money from it.
Don’t be afraid to choose competitive niches like blogging or make money online. Lots of competition simply means there’s money to be made from it.
Three main niches that always get good traffic and make good money. Health, wealth and relationships.
- Weight loss
- Body Building
- Women’s Health
- High Blood Pressure
- Personal Finance
- Make Money Online
- Frugal Living
- Saving Money..etc
- Self- Confident
Choose a Blogging Platform

Make money blogging by building trust with your audience.
Is a blog just about writing and adding affiliate links to make money?
To make money with a new blog you first have to build an audience.
Every business is built on trust.
Whether it ‘s a virtual or a physical business.
Your customers must like you and trust you to buy from you.
When you start your blog, it’s no different. After all, a blog is a business also.
Genuinely try to help your readers find solutions to their problems.
First, build a relationship with your audience.
Then the sales will come after.
Writing for Your Audience.
How do you write for your audience when you have a new blog with no audience?
Don’t try to write for everyone.
Just write for one person.
Create a buyer persona of your perfect customer. Write for that one customer only.
This, of course, does not mean you only have one blog post reader. But it helps you to write much better.
And more natural when you are just one person.
You can start by writing helpful content that solves problems in your niche. When you start building an audience they’ll naturally ask questions that give you a better feel and insight into what their pain points are
Use the information you gather from your audience to create the type of content that they are looking for.
Another way to create useful blog posts is to ask your audience questions via surveys and polls to help you better understand the problems they are having.
The third way to write useful content is to find the blogs in your niche and look at what content they are writing.
Read their comment sections to see what their audience is saying.
If they are well known successful blogs that are doing well, write similar content.
Be careful now; don’t just copy similar content from any blog. Some blogs don’t have a great content strategy. Use ubbersuggest and similar web to get a feel of the stats on the blog you plan to emulate.
Don’t copy anyone’s work either. Respect their intellectual property rights.
Brian Dean from Backlinko has a content creation strategy that he calls the skyscraper method.
You find competitor blogs in your niche. Check their popular blog posts with lots of social shares. Then create similar content for your blog.
You already know the content you are producing is well received and popular on social media.
It’s a win, win situation for you.
How do blogs actually make money?
There are a variety of ways that blogs make money. Pay attention to what your audience is saying and try to monetize your content to match their needs.
Some of the most common ways of monetizing a blog are:
- Creating digital products
- Speaking gigs
- Affiliate Marketing
- Sponsored post
- Freelance Writing.
1. Affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is selling other people’s products on your blog for a commission. You usually get paid a percentage of the total cost of the product.
Every affiliate program has a different percentage rate that its affiliates get from sales.
marketing is done by recommending products to your audience using special
tracking links. When someone makes a purchase from your blog, you get a
percentage of the total price.
If you master the art of making affiliate sales, you can make good money.
A few tips for using affiliate marketing on your blog.
A)Only recommend products you have tried.
The best way to make sales is by only recommending products you have used and love.
It helps to build trust with your readers. You don’t want to be a blogger who is known for recommending crappy products. Protect your reputation over making a few dollars.
When you build a good reputation as being trustworthy your readers will automatically trust your recommendations.
This simple step will help you also to get more future sales as your audience learn to trust what you recommend to them as being quality products.
B) Find the right products for your audience.
Don’t just recommend a product because it has a high Commission.
It may not fit what your audience needs are. Recommend products that are within your niche.
For Example: If you have a weight loss blog you can’t be recommending hosting providers on a weight loss blog. Match the products to your audience’s needs.
If you’re not sure what to recommend look at blogs in your niche.
See what products and services they are recommending to their audience and try some of those products.
Chances are they are making good sales from those products.
C)Build your Email List
Most of your affiliate marketing sales will come from your email list. Don’t neglect it.
The money is in the list.
Start building your email list from day one of launching your blog.
You can make money without a list, but you will make more money with your list.
D)Write great content for your blog
Be helpful, let your blog be a wealth of actionable content for your target audience.
Write content that can make sales. Write List posts, how-to- guides, and tutorials.
Also, add a bonus to your affiliate products to help you to make more sales.
Notify your audience of sales. Companies have sales all the time. Let your audience know of discount prices to help you to get more affiliate conversion.
Drive traffic to your affiliate products using Pinterest or any other social network of your choice.
I am not a fan of ads so I rarely recommend them. But I know it is a monetization strategy. Ads can make your blog load slow. It also makes for bad user experience.
However, if you like using Ads go ahead.
The easiest AD network is Google AdSense. You don’t need to have any traffic to your blog to get approved.
Beware that Google pays peanuts. You are not going to be rich anytime soon from using AdSense on your blog.
To make good money with ads you need to have a high volume of traffic to your blog to succeed.
There are two types of Ads.
cost per click and cost per impression.
CPC /PPC ads.
The cost per click model is an advertiser pays only when their Ad is clicked not each time the Ad is shown.
You put these ads or banners on your blog in your sidebar or in your content.
When someone visits your site and click on an Ad you get paid a couple of cents.
For this model, advertisers pay for each time an Ad is shown regardless if someone clicks on it or not.
The keywords you used in your blog post also helps to determine the ad payouts you receive. Some keywords pay more than others do.
So if you decide to use Ads as a monetization method why not look for high paying keywords in google keyword planner?
Use those high paying keywords to create blog posts that will earn you a higher monthly income.
Other Ad networks to consider.
Mediavine and Adthrive.
A much better AdNetwork is Mediavine. When your blog reaches 25,000 sessions per month, you can apply to mediavine. Most bloggers say they pay much better and they pay a higher rate than Google Adsense.
Ad thrive is another great ad network. If you have 100,000 page views per month you can join adthrive.
Sell your own Ad space
You don’t need an ad network to display ads on your blog. You can sell your own ad space directly to advertisers. Cut out the middleman ad networks and take all the money for yourself.
Add a page to your blog that says “advertise with us” You decide the price you want to charge for an Ad space.
3.Create Digital Products
Creating Digital Products is a fantastic way to make money blogging. It can increase your blog income significantly.
Affiliate programs and ads only can do so much. If you want to scale up your income to over $100,000+ per month, sell your own stuff.
You are only getting a fraction of the total price with affiliate marketing and ads. But, when you sell your own products you get to keep 100% of the total cost.
If you look at most of the famous bloggers earning over $100,000/month they all have something in common, their own products.
And you can do the same too.
Try your hand at creating a course, everyone has something to teach. You don’t have to be in the blogging business for over ten years to sell courses. You just need to know how to sell.
Digital Products you can create:
- Online Courses
Digital product May take some time to create but the trade-off is worth it.
Companies sometimes pay bloggers to publish content promoting their products or brands to their audience. You only get paid once for publishing the content.
You’re not going to make recurring income from a sponsored post.
Be smart and charge a price that’s worth your time. You have to research and write the post make sure it’s worth your while.
Michelle from makingsenseofcents says she earns $5,000 for a sponsored post. Now that’s worth your time.
If you are only going to make $200 or less for a sponsored post forget it.
If you’re able to attract companies and brands that are willing to pay you $5,000 for a sponsored post then go ahead and use it as a monetization method for your blog.
You can find advertisers for a sponsored post on:
5. Freelance writing
Freelance writing is a fabulous method to make money online. This is how I started earning money online four years ago.
You’re already writing for your blog, so your work is displayed online for potential clients to see.
If you’re interested in making extra income you can offer to write for other blogs. Create a portfolio on your blog that advertises your service and your price or simply create a work with me page.
6. Speaking gigs
If you don’t have a fear of public speaking, why not consider advertising yourself for speaking gigs on your blog.
Think about it, you’re a successful entrepreneur with a money-making business. There are people who would like to emulate your success and learn from you.
They are willing to pay you to teach them what you know.
Advertise yourself on your blog and work with brands on speaking engagements.
It’s never too late for you to start a blog and start making money. The internet is a huge place and there is still room for you to start and grow your business.
Blogs usually make money by affiliate marketing, selling courses, speaking gigs, advertisements, and freelance writing.
